AK - Dash to the Wire - what am I fighting for? spoilers

I havent seen the answer to this one yet.

I'm playing 'Dash to the Wire' and currently on turn 7. I was instructed to look out for enemy supply dumps and then a couple of turns in got asked to head to an area on the map marked with A (several hexes). I did this and was then told to assemble four units in area A, which I also did.

I'm now not really sure what I'm fighting for. The mission objectives still state to capture all objectives, yet there arent any objectives, but equally there arent any supply dumps, so am a tad confused!

I'm loving the scenario though, would just like a bit of an idea of what to fight for before I fritter away my forces.

Anybody able to help?

Look further down in the lower-lower right area of the map...I mean...you have to search a bit for these supply dumps..they are not handed to you as a courtesy of the british army :D
You will figure this out..its part of the fun

Aha, it is starting to become clear. I realise what the developers are trying to do, but maybe it could have been a little clearer for the first time on the scenario? I dunno, it is kind of good, but I was slightly worried there was something wrong. Spoiler in the next post.

Yup, you're right. I think it is good, but maybe there should've been a further briefing after you've done the assembly area correctly, just to let you know you dont have to wait any longer?

Anyway, for those playing the scenario for the first time I can confirm that you only have to end your turn with four units in the assembly area, they dont have to wait there until the next turn, which is what I was beginning to worry about. Minor quibbles on another excellent scenario though.

yeah..first time I wondered too then decided to move towards the lower right part and voila...
although there could be another hint at least...you are right! :)

The question here, is that AK brings PzC to a new level. We have to pay more attention to the messages and briefings. And even then, you can be surprised.
You can always read the pop-up messages, just by pressing the messenger button:

Everything is more dynamic now.

This scenario was waaaaaay more confusing early on in beta-testing, to the point of being nonsensical. It seems that it still isn't quite perfect unfortunately. It is a fun scenario though, the key is to get your units to that assembly area marked A early on.

Yes, VPaulus is spot-on. AK makes you take the briefings and in-scenario messaging VERY seriously. When I first started playing AK in beta testing I was somewhat lackadaisical about this because of past experience.

This scenario gave testers fits at first but it's final version is cleaned up to make it a fun scenario and have adequate instruction I think. HINT: don't just recon past the wire. Do some recon to the south, too and you may find some interesting other nuggets. ;)

Cheers for all the info chaps. I have been reading the messages and stuff, I think it was more a case of not being sure. I kept looking at the 'Dash to the wire and destroy those supply dumps' message and kept thinking, does this mean I've done it right?

Again, just want to emphasis I'm not complaining, just a tad confused at the time as to whether I'd correctly entered and left the assembly area. I've sat up playing until the wee small hours last night and am now sat in work slightly stupefied with various AK tactics running through my head.

Basically, yes, that's what that means - you've done it right. IIRC, you don't get that message if you don't assemble the four units in the "A" hexes on time (by turn five I think). So if you get that message, you've triggered the "bonus" aspect of the scenario and you are good to go.

I think in beta there was more kvetching about this scenario than any other (at first - when it was much more confusing). The devs tweaked it to split the difference so it was hard and a bit confusing - but not entirely opaque. I think they did a good job.

Hangar No 1 what do you do with it?
Or do you mean the captured equipment?

What to do? Destroy them. There are a number of hangers out there. One of them is defended, and one yields a useful capture.

Yes destroy them and you may get a nice surprise.

Well, that useful capture will have to remain unused - there is no way I'm gonna replay this scenario.

Hi kverdon!

Did you made some savegames (each turn)? Perhaps with these the guys from Slitherine could be retrace the issue.

@Slitherine: Please, could say something to this suggestion. If it would help you, let him know a mailadress.

Why 4 depots destroyed? There are only 3. There are 4 hangars and 3 depots.

PS
Found a save might help somehow

Thanks for the screenshots. The tent like supply depots shown on the last screenshot do not appear on my map, hence I thought the hangers were the supply depots. I honestly think this scenario needs more work on the descriptions. It's still way too confusing, I'm told told to capture some supply dumps so I find quonset huts so I think AHA! I think the problem with getting it sorted out by the beta testers is that after playing it so many times they knew exactly what to do and thus hard a difficult time assessing it from the viewpoint of a first time player.

Actually the beta testers raised exactly this problem and the descriptions was improved (in the first version the scenario was lot more cryptic and confusing :P) but i agree it still may not be 100% clear. The direct clue is to dash to the wire and look there for the supply dumps. If you look at the map you can see a barbed wire and the dumps are somewhere behind it while the hangars are on the side. But as i said if you don't read the message very carefully and maybe misinterpret the wire graphic for something else you may easily confuse the hangars and dumps.
