Robjess' Modded Maps

This is a cross post from a message I just posted on the Matrix Forums. For the last few weeks I have been working on some modded maps for use in 'Commander'. I have finally finished them and am releasing them:
-----
The modded Maps are done. Well at least to the stage where I am happy to release them. There are still some things which I notice when I look at them which I think I need to tidy up - but I have been sick with the flu all week and havent got around to it yet. But they are mostly small things which Im sure most people wont even notice. I will eventually 'fix' them - but I dont know when.

So here is version 1.00 of the Modded Maps for Commander.

http://users.on.net/robjess/CEAT/CommanderModMap.zip

I dont know how long I will have it on my server for though - so if there is somewhere else that can host this? Matrix? Or Slitherine? Maybe? But in the mean time Im happy to host it until a more concrete home is found.

Can I also recommend Fintilgin's mini mod.. Its most excellent and really compliments my map mod.

Here is a copy of the Read Me file that is included as part of the release:

This package contains modded maps for Slitherine/Matrix Games Commander - Europe at War.

'Commander' ships with 3 levels of map in the game, Map100, Map50 and Map20. Each of these maps provides a different level of 'zoom' to the map within the game. So when playing the game you can zoom in and out between these 3 levels of zoom, with Map100 being the maximum zoom in and Map25 being the least zoom - or the most strategic of the 3 maps.

The maps I have created are modified Map100 and Map50 maps, so the two most zoomed in maps. I didnt modify Map20 - or what I refer to as the strategic map as I quite like the original map that is within the game for this level of zoom.

So the Two maps that are included in this package are:

Map100_nogrid.png
Map50_nogrid.png

To install these maps so that you can use them in the game is very very simple.

All of the game maps are located in the ..\Image\Background\ folder. You should be able to find these folders under your main Commander Europe At War Folder.

The very first thing you should do is back up the original maps that we are about to replace. So to do this, rename the existing Map100_nogrid.png and Map50_nogrid.png files to something like Map100_nogrid-backup.png and Map50_nogrid-backup.png

You should do this because you may not like my modified maps and may want to go back to the original maps at some stage.

Once you have renamed or backed up the original two maps, then simply copy the two maps:

Map100_nogrid.png
Map50_nogrid.png

From this package into your Commander War in Europe\Image\Background folder and there you go! The maps should now show up in the game!

If you want to go back to the original maps all you do is delete the two

Map100_nogrid.png
Map50_nogrid.png

Maps of mine from the Commander War in Europe\Image\Background folder and then rename your Map100_nogrid-backup.png and Map50_nogrid-backup.png files back to their original names :

Map100_nogrid.png
Map50_nogrid.png

But I guess you already worked that out.

If you have any comments or questions feel free to email me at Robjess@gmail.com. If you have any further suggestions about these maps or other mods, then email me I would be pleased to hear your feedback.

Rob!

Sorry Admin, maybe this post should go in the General Commander Discussion Forums and not the Modders Corner. Can someone move it for me?
