Number of Mixed Div + Ally??

French 1809 list states: two mixed divisions may be used, not containing heavy cav. Does this just apply to the French 1809 list?
Could I take a third mixed division if it is Wurttemburg or Bavaria?

I believe you can. IMO the restrictions in the special instructions for a list apply to units and formations from that list only, unless otherwise specified (for example in some lists the type of division that can be imported and/or the units the imported division can contain are specified). The imported division obeys the instructions in the exporting list, so if a mixed division is allowed in that list it can be imported.
Reading it any other way might lead to some strange results. For example, the 1809 Army of Bohemia is allowed one mixed division (for the advanced guard). However, can also field the Brunswickers, but they have to be in a seperate mixed division. I don't believe that this would count against the 1 mixed division allowed. I can't see any historical justification for not being able to field both an advanced guard division and the Brunswickers in Keinmayer's XI corp.

I agree but keep in mind if you are working off a separate allied list you can only take core units from the allied list. If their cav falls under the optional troops, well too bad no mixed corps.
Sounds like France is looking for more horses to use against Austria...

I'm not sure this is always true. The restriction on only using core troops only applies when using the "Mixed Nationality Corps 1813-14" provisions and perhaps some other lists where it is specified in the special instructions. There is nothing in the section on p.179 of ToN on "Maxima and Minima for Single Divisions" that suggest you can only use core units in an imported division. However, since by definition optional units have a minima of zero the maxima for them will be reduced by half applying the adjustments on p.179. In some cases (but by no means all) this will reduce the maxima below the minimum unit size, which has the same effect of saying you can't take them. For example, if importing a cavalry division (not containing cuirassiers) from the Austrain Reserve Corp in 1809, you'd be able to include 6 bases of cheveau-Legers or 5 of Hussars (effective 4), but only 2 of Uhlans, which is effectively zero.

Not entirely true. You MUST take at least 1/3 the core units if dividing by 3 doesn't reduce them to less than half a unit.
Therefore units with a minimum of 4 or less (2 or less for artilllery) are not compulsary for an allied division.
Units in the allied list that are not compulsary (after dividing by 3) have their maximum halved, and can be used if this doesn't reduce them to half a unit.
Allied divisions must be of the type described in the main list. (infantry, mixed or cavalry). If the list does not specify which type of division the ally is then it can be of any type - as long as all the minimums are taken.
