Ambushes & Flank Marches

Throughout the Beta Test the development team have been very good at sharing the rationale for your decisions. Would you mind indulging me on this aspect of deployment?

If I have a 15 BG army, I would deploy it 4 - 4 - 4 - 3.

If I had 2 BGs in ambush and 1 on a flank march I would deploy as 4 - 4 - 4 - 0.

Given this telegraphs to my opponent that I have at least 3 BGs in ambush / flank marching, this seems to take an element of surprise out of the game. Personally I'd prefer to deploy as 3 - 3 - 3 - 3?

Why so generous?

It cuts both ways.

If your army had 11 BGs, it would normally deploy 3,3,3,2.

If you had 3 BGs in ambush or on flank marches, and you used the old method of calculating batches, you would have to deploy 2,2,2,2.

Unless your opponent is dull, this will pretty much telegraph your intentions with the first batch.

At least the present method does not telegraph anything until you (don't) place the 4th batch.

The main reason for doing it the current way was to speed up deployment (and avoid mistakes causing rancour) by making it unnecessary for player to calculate their batch sizes "on the fly".
