Record Stuck

Occasionally I get a "record stuck" effect where it plays the first 1/2-1 second of a sound then stops and does it again and again and again for a good 15 - 60 seconds. While it is doing this the display doesn't react to mouse events - however they are all actioned at the end - often with unfortunate effects like moving a unit you didn't intend to move.

Are you are running the high spec version and if so, do you have the 1 GB RAM as it requiered?

Your processor is easily enough but it may be your RAM is being sucked up by other applications running in the background leading to some stuttering. You can see a full list of programs running in your task manager and how much RAM eash is using.

Nothing obvious - except explorer.exe which is essential.
Closing the few non-essential, and several less-essential, programs appears to reduce the frequency of the problem.
Turning all the sounds off didn't solve the problem - just harder to notice and less annoying, and possibly less frequent.
