there is a discussion we are having at the moment which we need cleared up. a unit of late Polish Knights has front rank Kn with lance, the 2nd rank is Cav swordsman. the question is do the Cav fight in the melee? as cav they do fight the 2nd rank but the from rank is knights which do not fight a 2nd rank of Kn.

The cavalry in the 2nd rank do not fight in melee behind a front rank of knights. You can expand them into overlap or use them to fill front rank spots where the knights have died.
