How do you great a grand battery

I was wondering how you great a grand battery? The rules say this is possible, but even in ton there does not see to be an option: nearest is the an old guard div being allowed 2x old guard batteries. But does that mean you have to have 4 nits min in the div (2x dosld guard infantry and 2x d artillery units)?

I suppose you can not do an artillery divisison of 3x art units and a div commander?

Put your ART units side by side ...you do not need a general for that and unlimber then shoot ...

So you can just deploy your art batteries together. There is no restrictions like in FOW on how close hits have to be to the commander ?

For example: 3x inf divs one art battery each. As you put out each div, you can group the art. U it's together ? Trade off is being more than likely the art will be out of command for complex moves

There are no restrictions on deploying and command range.
Not recommended but you could deploy your division by splitting it to both sides of the table if you wanted, however command will be an issue for sure then. so grabbing artillery from 3 divisions and deploying it side by side is allowed. Command for at least 1 of them will likely be an issue though, and it would make a tempting target for your enemy.

, and it would make a tempting target for your enemy.

I assume infantry from another div can move up behind it as in fogr to stop it from being captured?

Grand Battereis are for use in larger games, where you could form an entire division of artillery if you wish - since normal army composition restrictions are ignored. A single corps didn't have enough artillery in it's normal composition to form a grand battery - it usually required artilley being assigned from army reserve.
As alreay stated, there is no reason why you can't deploy artillery units adjacent to each other.

Well you can't really stop it from being captured, but artillery can abondon guns to retire to a unit that isn't part of their division.
