Hexagon vs square

Did not see it anywhere but why square grid over hexagon grid for battle academy?

Also I am a tech can I help?

If you search there is a thread about squares vs hexes.

There has been talk of a hex version.

A hex version of the engine is definitely on our wishlist, but it will require a lot of changes to the engine. The core issue is that it makes 'searching' on the grid far more complex and it would be nontrivial to expose that kind of functionality in the scripting. We chose tiles because (a) they are less intimidating for the non-hardcore wargamer and (b) they are far simpler to implement both in the game code and in the scripting.
