Some thoughts on the map set up.

The 2 Algeria corps should be replaced with garrisons. Even then they'd remain too strong. The British corps in Syria should be replaced with a garrison as well.
Norway should be made easier to invade. Include an Oslo port and/or more room to attack Oslo.
The Murmansk convoy route should be moved to just a few hexes off the coast of Norway, allowing convoys to be bombed by aircraft based in Norway.
Holland should be renamed Netherlands, and the city should be Amsterdam, not Hague.
European Turkey should be connected to Asian Turkey.

I'm not qualified to comment on the other issues, but invading Norway is already about right, (in terms of difficulty), compared to the actual
Operation Weserubung, so I wouldn't advocate any changes on that subject.

I thought the french north african garrisons were exactly that, not corps?

After France surrenders they turn into Corps.

My algerian garrisons have always been consumed on the mainland so no change into corps.
As Vichy is a neutral it does not matter anyway especially as the allies do not need to invade to pursue a successful Med strategy.

It doesn't matter. I'm talking about after France surrenders (Vichy Algeria setup).

They don't "need" to do many things, but it should be a more viable option.

Syria should be a Corps because it represents all the Free French forces.
Algeria - I think you are right. On the other hand, you can take Morocco for free
Oslo works better the way it is now. Here is a foolproof strategy to take Oslo:
Tactical Bomber in Northern Denmark
Corps to Oslo, Garrison under
Turn 1 - bomb oslo, land corps and attack, land garrison, send BB and bombard
Turn 2 - bombard, bomb, corps attacks, garrison moves and attacks. 90% of time you win by now.
vs. human - may want to put subs to the west in case allies get frisky

One can only take Morocco for free by activating Algeria for the enemy.
