It will be late October/early November I think. The street date has not been set yet. We're hoping to start taking pre-orders soon. Just as soon as we have time to sort out the web site :)

timdekker, I believe the game needs to be "unleashed" before it can be "releashed", Hehe. Spel chekers are a wonderful thing to have, and even more so to use.

Those of us not involved in the beta testing are anxiously awaiting the release of this new addition to the Slitherine line. I know it doesn't pay to rush the programmers, since I'd rather have a longer wait than a flawed product.

It will be a busy November, then, with Civ 4 and AoE3 both slated for a min-November release.

Have some mercy on me and try for October.

spel chekers - A feeble attempt at humor, it was more or less intentional.

Anyway, it's apparently feast or famine for historical TBS players. The near-simultaneous release of this and Civ 4 can't be good for sales of either. I feel especially sorry for the writers and publishers of Civ, who will undoubtedly bear the brunt of the suffering, going up against a programming powerhouse like Slitherine.

I wish I could share your optimism about Civ4. :(

I've seen it and played it for a preview I wrote for CGM. I can't say much until it's published (and even then there might be some embargo issues) but I can tell you that I was very, very happy with it.

Oh man, I can't believe it! IT is that Troy! Hi. :-)
I can't access the site for days now. Any idea what is going on? I mean the forums were on and off the last few weeks (for all 3 of us still visiting them) but now not even the main site works.

Civ 4 looks to me like a bad game in relation to Civ III Conquests. For example with how religion is dealt with, how the strategic resources are going to be more even out across the map (bad idea IMO) etc. Never mind, this is not the thread for it.

Heh. Yeah, it is "that Troy".

If you mean the CGOnline forums, they are moving the server. Should be up next week.

Can't say I'm too enthused about another CIV version. I wasn't impressed with CIV III and CIV II is still the best overall challenge of them all to me. So, Civ IV will take a back buner to something NEW like Legions Arena. I'll pick up CIV IV like I did Railroad Tycoon III and Locomotion and Warlords IV, off ebay for less than $10 for all three. But, will support Slitherine with retail purchase of something NEW which is worth the cost of full retail. ;)

You can do both. ;)

I wasn't too excited about yet another Civ either, so I was surprised that Civ 4 is both something old and something new. I do think it's time for Firaxis to stop pillaging the past and to move on, but after all the fun I had with Pirates, I can't moan too loudly.

Still, for a truly new title, Legion: Arena is still near the top of my list for the fall season. The Xmas season is, as usual, full of sequels and very few really original games. Even though Arena may be seen by many as just another part of the Legion franchise, what I've read so far makes it clear that it could be something special.
