Are elephants 'mounted' in terms of the Dragon Sphinx period? thanks

A quick reminder to all that if you are intending to come to Warfare (and why wouldn’t you? :o) ) you need to get your entry in quick as the price goes up from £15 now, to £20 from the 5th of October. As much as I love WAR, I hope to save you all the extra fiver. :o)

Just for clarification, you don’t need to have you list in with your entry (but the earlier the better!)

Entries should please be made via the club website (http://www.wargamesassociationreading.co.uk/), where you click on the “Warfare Competitions” tab on the left, then from there on the “Warfare Competitions payment sheet” tab on the right and you can enter and pay online. It’s a remarkably painless way of parting with £15…

Tell us please because I am assuming that since they have 4 feet they are. (and the rules say so too)

Sorry for not picking this up sooner!

My (non-FOG-player's) view is that Elephants are mounted bases. However, for the record my trusted adviser's subsequent comment was "Armies with lots of Elephants are crap, especially in a foot-heavy period, so let them take as many as the lists allow". Obviously I can't say whether he's right or not!

That said, I think that at this late stage I had better go with my original intention as it's probably fairer to everyone planning their lists.

Contemporaneous postings Phil. Glad that I am following the rules, in one way or another...

Our mail is contemporaneous? Is that not a bit kinky? WTF does Contemporaneous mean?

URGENT - ENTRIES BEING CAPPED

I have just had some unexpected news about competition entries for this year's Warfare. For reasons beyond my control we are having to cap the numbers of
entries.

For FOG:AM this is 16 in each of the 15mm competitions, and 8 in the 25mm. We currently have 6 entered in the Greaco-Roman wrestling, 12 in Dragon, Sphinx and Jaguar and 6 in the 25mm. That means that if you are intending to enter you need to do so *now*.

I don't know why this reduction in numbers is being imposed suddenly, I was given no notice at all - the organiser who told me was sounding pretty cheesed-off. However, we are where we are and all I can do is pass the message on urgently.

Looking in http://www.wargamesassociationreading.c ... .-5068.pdf doesnt say if the fogam 25mm is v2 or v1 of the rules. Of particular interest is the SSw... And countering romans :)

Common sense suggests it will be v1.
The fact that it says "The rules to be used are the relevant published Field of Glory rules" doesn't seem to leave much room for doubt?

I thought v2 had been released in digital format?

Not yet...doing a printed version of some sort is proving to be a hold up, still no concrete release date.

Hi Tim

Just checking but the competition website shows FOG 15mm Greek and Roman full with 12 places.

Only 11 names are listed.

Is there one spare place or a missing name?

Thanks

Rob

OK, checked now, and it seems that we cannot add up! There is one space available in the Greek and Roman. Please could anyone who wants it email me direct on t_and_e.child[at]tiscali.co.uk to claim it. We aren't re-opening the website for this one space - first email, first served!

I'm afraid the number still don't add up and its ove a week since the last comment. Do you have the Roman FOG Am for Warfare made up to 12 yet? If so can you post the final entry? If not can you change the number to 11 please and remove the "full" marker despite the need for the extra work. I'm worried that if no-one has sent in that final application yet, we might not get it with the websire saying the comp is are full. Next thing we know we'll only have 11 and 4 people will end up with "bye's" ie a third of the players - not something anyone wants!

Fear not, I have filled the space, and found an extra table. Wayne Dare, Graham Evans and Graham Roberts are all in, the period now being 14 strong.

I have also found an extra table for the Dragon, Sphinx and Jaguar theme, and Chris Proudfoot and Dave Finnigan will be joining in the fun, that theme now being 16 strong.

We are not opening up the website for applications again.

Cheers,

Tim
