So, how to get to that capture point in mountains? Guess I will try to use a Paratroop Unit. Tanks/Halftracks/Trucks cant get through the mountains. Will follow=up, have 2 core slots still open and plenty of prestigue to buy a throw-away Para Unit...

yeppers, had to put a non-truck/halftrack unit to capture base in mountains. used a para-unit. droped 1 hex away. walked into city and won victory next turn.

Please don't think of paras as throw aways...If used properly they are a devastating arm. They are also very good at "helping" keep other units alive in a later scenario when you have to save at least 5 arab units and hangers. The main force will arrive too late and the paras can help hold the tide back.

Just started on this one, noticed that I was able to upgrade to Panther for an SE unit, but not for the regular units. Intentional? If so; very cool, makes sense that SS would be able to get their hands on some hot HW ahead of regular Wehrmacht. Haven't noticed this before, is the difference so small it doesn't show up in most scenarios? The PzIII -> Panther transition is of course one of the more important ones.

I think there is a problem with this hill jumping scenario.

With a Me 323 Giant (get: infantry with trucks) you can't land on this hills.
With a Ju 52 (get: no truck) you can capture this hill, but sometimes it would set you outside the mountains.

Example: plane at (14,9) klick to (15,8) but jumping at (14,8). Frustration.

General level. Beta 3. Starting prestige, 7179, ending 5049. Elite replacements for all.

This one didn't pose too many challenges. Even without the gliders to land a panzer force on the other side of the mountains, I could have smashed my way through the mountains with armor and artillery. My mountain troops were able to capture the mountain base after air power softened up the Russians. I notice that the hex is not named, does it represent Mt. Elbrus? If so, shouldn't if be so named? The AI seemed a bit passive in this one. The Red Air Force was a non-factor and their tanks were somewhat passive. Or was STAVKA just so shocked at Germans coming over the mountains that they were paralyzed with fear? :)

I think the Russians could be beefed up a bit in this scenario. I did enjoy the mountain troops and the use of the gliders. The new elements in the game (gliders, mines, etc.) really are adding a lot to the richness of the game.

BETA 3
Colonel
Another brutal map where your worst enemy is weather.
After I brought all my troops up to level I only had 32 prestige to start the game.
Lost my Hero pioneer as I rushed him forward into three tanks.
start 3892 before replacing losses in que.
End 2430
DV 24/30

I ignored loading my tanks onto gliders and just pushed my way through the mountains with Italian and German infantry Art and when weak finished them off with tank

In Beta 4 there are some changes in Allied defense layer and some dynamic pick of additional objectives. Advice, use gliders here.
