Did you captured an airfield? Do you have air units around it?

Seized the airfield as well as Aleppo (the city in which presumably the Abwehr agent was gonna appear) did it with the parachute team. But nothing after so moved some air units around and nothing. No big deal. Dont know what happened :S

I just tested it and it works for me. When you capture and airfield at 15,6 adjacent to it Bf110 bomber appears. On the next turn off course. Did you toggle ground/air units?
Did you continued with the scenario, still not there?

My mistake, my mistake...! :S glups...

No worries! Thnx for letting me know!

What happened is that after capturing the airfield it appeared, but didnt realize about so cause I wasnt expecting to see the liaison officer as an air unit, if not to see some kind of infantry unit or a tile representing an officer :S So ended freaking out thinking something was wrong ! _S

Syria
General level
Ending prestige 5500
DV on turn 19/21
No losses

This was a wonderful scenario, the daring, Skorzeny-esque rescue mission was an exciting and captivating objective. The fictitious rescue mission shows a lot more creativity than most hypothetical scenarios we have seen. My troops blitzed through Damascus and Beirut quickly but the waves of English armor, combined with that damn minefield slowed me down for a while, still I could have achieved a decisive victory on turn 19 but waited until turn 21 to try to capture a couple more non-objective cities. This was a fun battle, it might not be a bad idea to include an extra enemy tank or two around Damascus to slow down the speed at which you can overrun it.

FM, DV 11/21, cleared the map. Could have finished at turn 9.

Everything went smoothly. Pioneers were useful to pierce the minefield. The northern assault was pretty easy, and I was able to keep all paratroopers alive. I was even able to use them to capture the last two cities.

General level. Starting prestige 6917, ending 4837. Elite replacements for all core units.

I was able to rescue the agent without difficulty. I rushed forward with additional air assets to assist the attack on the airfield. That made the difference. I was lucky in that I didn't stumble into any of the anti air units in the area. Stumbled into more minefields to clear. I think they really add to the game. Lost a motorcycle infantry and a hero recon unit to British armored counter attacks. But they did their job in sounding the alarm for flanking attacks. DV on 14/21.

Gotta laugh out of that. I did the same thing. Took me three turns to realize I had an extra a/c floating around. I kept waiting for a ground unit to appear. I'm just glad I didn't lose it attacking with it, but at least it had lots of strength!

Syria ( beta 2)
FM Level, DV at 12/21
Prestige start 5,400. End: 6,700. Net: +1,300
(Elite replacements to “10” during scenario for core units, unless very badly damaged – those retired and repaired w/Elite in next deployment).

Fun map, nice use of mines.* After spending a lot effort to capture the far western airfield, it still spawned new opponent aircraft?

This was a fun scenario, but perhaps too easy to get dv so quickly? I think a big part of the fun is the different action zones. Two distinct ground thrusts with a water barrier separating them. Naval action, and the air assault in the north. The disparate pieces keep your mind moving and make the scenario more engaging. Obviously, they can't all be this way. But it does make for more "fun" ones where possible.

* - I mentioned this elsewhere, but just to cover it here where it happened once - pretty sure the mines are serving a “scouting” function and letting opponent forces see. Two enemy fighters jumped a weak aux. Fighter that otherwise they never would have found; no “unexpected encounter,” clear attack. I don’t think this is desirable. Also mines exhibit limited zoc functions, as I mentioned before (also seems unrealistic).

I will fix this. Regarding minefields, yes they do see your adjacent troops. Changes regarding this will be included in the future.

Oops, I meant to say "far eastern" airfield, the one buried along the river behind the dune fields. I think you understood, though. Thanks for your attention!

BETA 3
Colonel
start 8875
End7719

Never got the officer.

Then I read the thread.

Was expecting to see an infantry unit that I would latter have to load up at the air field.

This is what the scenario description implies.

Beta3 - still in game
- Elite FJ: are the "Brandenburger" meant? If they are meant why don't use "Brandenburger" (not "Brandenburgers") instead of "Elite FJ"?
- The airfield to cature (15, 6) is marked by 'C' so it was clear for me to capture this airfield to contact the liaison officer but I was surprised the new unit was a Bf110G.

The briefing needs to be a bit clearer how to perform the rescue mission.
I also think it would make it a little harder if the Abwehr personell had to be airlifted and transported into safety onboard a Ju52. There are a lot of Allied air units that could interfere in the rescue mission.
Other than this, a good scenario.

Enjoy playing the scenario, to perform a secret mission was a new duty, I like it.

Playing Fm. Notifying players that the liaison officer is boarded in a Bf 110 and ready to go is a good idea. I know the first time I played the scenario I went at least 2 turns before I realized I had more bombers than I should. The pop up message explaining things is incorrect though. It states "You have released liaison officer which is loaded in his Bf 110 bomber and ready to take off for Haifa airfield." It should say " You have released the liaison officer who is loaded in his Bf 110 bomber and ready to take off for Haifa airfield."

I'm sure it's partially that I've replayed this scenario so many times in a short period, but it seemed far easier than it used to. Other scenarios having impressed me in that way.
