I have a query about defensible ground. How exactly do you use it and when do you get the bonus?

Do you get the bonus standing on defensible ground or behind it?

You need to be on it. Set your units to Passive to keep them on it.

Defensive ground gives a defensive bonus to ground units and a penalty to cavalry.

Ways to use defensive ground:

- Put large shield units in forests to protect against missile fire and cavalry (on defensive mode so they won't leave their position and return to the forest instead of chasing the opponent)
- Lure horses (they are always set on aggressive) into pikes/rocks/forests to give yourself a defensive edge and to penalize cavalry.
- Put Archers in hills/rocks/forests

(This is from my understanding of game mechanics. I need to review the tutorials and write it out so I can remember but this should give you some ideas =D)
