Persuaded Ian to give these a go.
He loved the game and immediately ordered the books

So I took some of my 6mm Russian and French. Threw some army lists together and had a good few turns intro to the game.
The Russians had 3 foot divisions and a LCav Div.
The French had 1 foot, 1 Mixed and a HCav Div.

Hopefully some pictures below.Jim
The initial French advance.

The French HCav start to deploy out to attack the Russian Cav division.

The Russians initiated the charge.
From top of the picture we had Rus Hussars vs Fr Cuirass then Rus Dragoons vs Fr Cuirass then Rus Cossacks vs Fr Hussars.
Image
The Russian Hussars Wavered and retired followed by the Cuirassiers. Passed their test when the Cuirass followed and hit them in the pursuit, they broke and routed straight off the board.
In the middle the Dragoons saw off the Cuirass and the Fre Hussars disrupted and pursued the wavering Cossacks.

Ian wanted to see what happens when you charge a square. Well it did not go well. stopped at 2 MU passed the cmt to get in and then

Retired spent and disrupted.

I do like they look of your 6mm based as 15mm armies. In particular, how you managed in many cases to give a good indication of the actual formation within the "tactical footprint". From the pictures it seems it gives a idea of the scale of the engagement.

Nice pics and love the base for the squares. Looks really good in 6mm. Hope you continue to enjoy this great game.

Very nice.

One of the things I think we will see in the lifecycle of the game as we learn is both sides will try to win the mounted fight and then whomever loses will assume they are beaten and take up a defensive role for the rest.

This is true in many napoleonic games.

Not sure I would agree, with the limited evidence on one tournament behind me I think since Cavalry are a one shot weapon, people will go to mixed Divisions if possible since to me Infantry are the force to be reckoned with in the game more bang for your points.

Why pay so many points for a unit that will be spent even if you win, IMO this actually works well Cavalry should'nt charge all over the Battlefield. It would have worked well in the other FOG's as well.

Saying this I will take my two units Cuirassiers just cause I like them :D

I'm sure this is wrong but its just my impression :D

I ran cuirassier once, and they were just average, but they can really stomp the enemy. Especially if they charge you with lighter cavalry. I am looking at the Austrian list where Cuirassier can have or even have to have attached guns, check out how that can help your combats

My experience has taught me to try to get your target down to at least disordered before you charge, and try to send in your best troops first. My Superior Hussars with attached general have bested French poor Dragoons more than once.
