Tourney Standard Points

So I was trying to figure out what we were going to use for standard point totals for tournaments of FoG: N here in Arizona, and I thought it would be similar to our standard FoG: AM and FoG: R totals which are 800 points a player for singles and 600 points a player for doubles. But having looked through the lists from Triumph of Nations I'm starting to see problems with this theory; for example a French Imperial Guard Autumn 1813 list costs 792 points just to meet the minimum for the list  . Anyone have any thoughts on a good number then?

Where in Arizona are you?

I think all the FOG games are better at 900. 800 was pulled out of someone's ******.

French Imperial guard have too high a minima in both 1812 & 1813. We will do something about that in the errata.
Other than those 2, minima for armies should be no more than 500pts

So far we have played games with a range of points from 650 to 800. I prefer the games with 650-700 points using 28mm figures on a six by four table. It works well, forcing players to decide what to leave out.

Is it 850 or 900 for the H-con event ? Not sure about others, but I know I'd prefer 900.

It's interesting that the more experienced players prefer larger battles - up to 1000 pts.
At the moment though, most players entering competitions are not very experienced so I think 800 pts is better for now.
Final decision will always be the competition organisers though.

We've tried historical battles on larger tables - Austerlitz in 15mm on a 10x6 for example, which came out at about 3000pts per side - although later research shows that it should be more like 3750.
