Amphibious Landings

I think this is an area where Panzer Corps is a little weak. As it is now it is impossible to land if there is a unit occupying a coastal hex. To correct this I'd like to propose the following.
Amphibious Landing Rules:

- A unit landing to a coastal hex should be able to perform an attack on that hex if it is occupied.
- Ground units could be loaded onto sea units with different amphibious attack/defense values for instance.
- If the attack fails in either eliminating or 'pushing back' the defending ground unit, then the attacking unit surrenders.
- Add units like 'Marines' and amphibious armour.
- Add sea units for transportation (like ground unit transportation already in the game).
- Units like Marines would have bonuses (as compared to regular troops) when performing amphibious attacks.

This would improve sea-to-land combat and make it more realistic.

In general I like the ideas, but having the attacker surrendering instantly if he does not destroy or force back the enemy seems kinda harsh, as this result would rather be an exception, esp. when you slap enough penalties for amphib assaults on the attacker.

In single-player scenarios it is a simple thing to do: leave a beach hex that the attacker can land on (it might have swamp as the terrain type for combat effects and a beach tile for appearance) and set defenders to remain immobile. Perhaps not ideal but very do-able.

For MP it's more complex, but possible - use a 'house rule' to prevent the defender sending units on to 'beach' hexes.

Games like Commander, Europe at War initially shipped without the ability to make amphibious assaults but it has since been added - perhaps it can with PzC one day, too.

Making an amphibious assault would only be successful if you supress that hex sufficiently (or use a strong marines unit).
