AI vs AI

There is an AI vs AI switch in the settings file, which I appreciate as I sometimes like to watch an alternate history play out without the need of running one of the two sides myself. Problem is, in this mode the game doesn't seem to be pausable -- meaning you can't zoom in/out, nor pause it occasionally to study the map, etc. Hotkeys don't work when the game is running in this AI-vs-AI mode. Anybody else encountered and/or solved this?

This is a debug feature - only used by us to test out the AI in longer games. It has not been updated recently and will not work properly & even if it did you shouldn't be playing with it ;)

You guys tinker with everything don't you! We need eyes in the backs of our heads :)

Well, it's not "playing" exactly -- more like "observing"! :)

But seriously, then how about the option to switch sides during a game, to cater to those who want to watch the AI against the AI?

Its not a simple thing to do as the AI needs to know what it was doing. E.g. you switch over with some troops on board ship in the Atlantic - the AI doesn't know why they are there or what it was doing with them. This is an extreme example but it would end up with very odd behaviour and may completely break so I can't see this happening :)

Understood. Too bad--would have been nice. I appreciate your taking the time to answer. (And, btw, great game!)

To pause, I think you can press the options button to get that popup.

It only pauses while the popup is live (and covering most of the screen). Once you get rid of the popup, the game resumes.
