Unity is a new and unfamiliar frontier. Would I be correct in guessing that it brings two advantages:
1. A ready-to-roll map editor
2. 3D symbiosis from and with other games whose engines may be entirely unrelated to Close Combat
?

The Unity engine is a ready-made 3D engine. So by using it we can develop the game without having to creat our own 3D engine from scratch (a huge undertaking). Unity itself doesn't provide things like a ready-made make editor, but gives us the tools to create one.
