Handicap slider in MP games

Does anyone use this in their MP games?
For PBEM PG2 games we worked out the balance for some scenarios by using a variant of this. Most were even but some used the handicap to make scenarios, usually the stock SSI ones, more balanced. I'm wondering if there is some sort of consensus that some MP scenarios could use the handicap and in what way.

The mp scenarios s3eem pretty balanced as intended. Some like Partisan uprising and Hylan valley offer the axis a slight advantage. Steam roller against steel and (to a lesser extent) Frozen north slightly favour the soviets in my opinion but with good play and a bit of luck you can prevail.
I think the most important factor in game balance for MP battles is the quality of the opposition. Setting up a challenge with a slider advantage to your opponent is reasonable if your playing a rookie but would almost be suicidal if Kerensky or someone similar picked it up.
I find Iron cross Red star to be the most even

I played Partisan Uprising with a slight advantage (+1 if I remember) to the Italians, I was French. Even with the advantage, I was able to pull off a victory. The Italian weapons just seem to be of a poorer quality. It takes a experienced player to make due with the Italian forces.
My opponent put up a good fight and it was touch and go until late in the game.
