In a test game against the AI I encountered a possible bug. It is 1943. I have two Para slots for Italy. However, I can't upgrade an Italian GAR (THe fortress Messina GAR). It does work with all other Italian GAR, but not with this special GAR. The only difference between the Fortress Messina GAR and other Italian GAR is the fact that it gained one experience star (seasoned).

Is this intended? Should a GAR with experience not be upgraded to Para? I also wondered what would happen with the experience of the GAR if an upgrade would be possible.

I wonder if this is because of the name fortress being seen as an ss unit and therefore you can't upgrade.

We need to fix quite a few places in the code to make an exception for fortress when checking for the letters "ss " or " ss".

Should we maybe alter the names in the scenarios so the term fortress is not used? We have fortress Gibraltar, fortress Malta, fortress Scapa Flow as well.

Yes, that is the problem - I have the same issue with the Italians in Sicily - could upgrade the supply level 5 Fortress Tobruk guy in Palermo but can't - others are supply 4. How about just rename them, "Tobruk", Scapa Flow HG for example.
