2 Questions for Slitherine/Authors??

1. Errata: Any suggestion as to when this might be made available? Even if in not final/polished form, the few of us on this forum could absorb it and comment on it. There is frustration out there (here?) as to rules clarifications. Some questions on the forums see an author reply while others don't. I get that FoGN isn't the only life occupation, but the slow pace seems to be putting more off the rules than turning them on to them. Some here would be willing to help.
2. Forums: Any suggestion as to when sub-forums might go up? Is there a reason they are not (other than life is busy and it's on the list to do)?

2. I hope someone will at least move the threads since release to the appropriate forums to populate them, which takes a little time to review and move so might be a reason.

I sent the errata in a week ago.
It only contains the list of errors on the rulebook.
I'm now working on 'clarifications'.....although I've just recevied the book 2 lists back for proof reading, so that will slow me down a bit.

Indeed eyes are good for proofing clarifications to see how many different ways something could conceivably be interpreted.
For lists, however, it is the tail-end iterative and tedious process of methodically checking each aspect one after anotther of the lists and their inter-relations that eliminates almost all (never all) errors. Never all, since it seems to be a publishing custom that some error is added back into the book during the publishing/printing process.

One of the problems I have had to contend with for the lists is regular and late changes to the points system in the rules following beta testing ! One had to begin the lists long before that was complete and sometimes lists done as long as 2 years ago crept through with old numbers. Having concentrated all the lists into two books has also made it harder to manage the volume as there is so much to check by way of numbers against the points table . I too need a magnyfing glass when its the print proof!
Its very easy to misread a whole line and on screen proofing just does not work as the eye sees what it expects to see. As with many things today folk think IT and e-mail makes thinking quicker too so deadlines can be very short indeed. After 40 years in the civil service I am sadly all too familiar with that trap! Now retired thankfully.

40 years....and they did not beat the creativity out of you? Amazing, Mike.
I too am in the civil service, but, alas, thanks to the government and investment bankers, I'm working on a "freedom 85" retirement plan.

Well they tried ( especally under the current iteration when doing anything that would actually improve the lives of "real" people!) ) but wargaming is a great antidote and has kept me sane all that time. The MOD was much more fun (up to 1986) than Health which is where I was when I retired. Three years in the NHS in the mid 90's was so much more satisfying.
You have my utmost sympathy
