Questions about rules,

In our last game, New Kingdom Egyptian vs Middle Assyrian, we have a couple of strange situations:

1.- In a clear flank, with no other troops, 6 NKE Light Chariots charge 4 Middle Assyrian Heavy Chariots with a TC with the Assyrians. In the impact phase, 1 Middle Assyrian Heavy Chariot was dead and Middle Assyrian drop one level cohesión. In the melee phase another Middle Assyrian Heavy Chariots was dead and Assyrians drop one level cohesión again. In the next turn melee phase, 4 NKE Light Chariots was figthing versus 2 Middle Assyrian Heavy Chariots, but the other 2 chariots was doing … ¿Nothing? We was reading the rules, and as NKE can not lapped round, so the other chariots was very amusing seeing the combat. It’s corretc? It’s sond to strange.

2.- In the melee phase, the Middle Assyrian broke, and in the pursue another chariots was dead, leaving only one chariots and the TC with it. In the JAP Middle Assyrian flee and was caught again and the last chariots was dead, but What About TC?
We apply the last paragraph on page 27, so as TC can not join a friend Battle Group with his movement was dead. We are not sure if we must apply Page 63, Removing bases from routing battle groups, last paragraph.
What is the correct solution?

Yes that is correct as far as I can tell - it would end up 4 NKE vs 2 Middle Assyrian. It doesn't matter much in practice that the NKE lose fighting troops as their proportional advantage is going up (i..e 4-2 is better than 6-4 or 5-3) and this is what matters. So what is important is that their odds of winning has gone up each time.

In the JAP the General can move away after the initial rout - so in the JAP rout he can leave the BG and escape - or try to. So the general has to rout with them once and surivive a 10.11.12 chance to kill him if the enemy stay in contact. The Assyrian chariots should have been removed at the end of the JAP as they were below the autobreak level. So in the JAP the general moves away of his own accord and the Chariots get routed and then removed. The pursuers stay where they are if they can pass a CMT not to pursue, or pursue once and destroy the remaining base. (regrouping).

No worries Juan, ealry days with any set of ruls ledas to lots of queries and getting sued to things.

In fact on re-reading your posting I think I better understand the situation now so I have amended the response above. The autobreak applies at the end of the JAP so if I get you correct then:

1. The general could have moved away in the JAP
2. The Assyrians rout again
3. The prusuers can CMT to avoid pursuing
4. The Assyrians are removed for two reasons - 1 base if the pursuers remain in contact so down to 0, and if they do not pursue then the autbreak removes them

So if you wre playing for the routers the right thing to do was to move you general way in the JAP having survivd the initial rout.

If you were playuing for the pursuers you might as well use a CMT to try to stop the prusuit as the autobreak will remove the chariots anyway
