New Intro Video for Panzer Corps

Hi, All. I’ve uploaded a new intro for Panzer Corps. I think this video captures the chaos and tension of war much better than the original one. It shows some nifty footage of various Wehrmacht units, Infantry, Fallschirmjager, Panzers, Anti-Tank Guns, Fighter Aircraft, Paradrops, naval warfare, etc.

Just drag the file into your “Panzer Corp/Video” folder. Back-up your original video if you want to keep it. I’ve already renamed the file as “intro.wmv” so its just a drag-and-drop operation. Runtime is 7mins and 3 secs. The video was converted from this youtube link “German Combat Footage – WW2” by Shad0wack:

You can download the new intro video from Gamefront link here:

Too long and too graphic in places for a game - at least IMO - but there is some amazing footage in this, nonetheless.

I think it's awesome, Jaggy. Good find.

ElCondoro has a point about the length, though. Maybe if someone, or you, could edit the video to stop when the music quiets.

@El _Condoro - True, it may not be everybody's cup of tea. I liked it as it reminded me of that military documentary "The World at War".

@4kEY - Thanks, just happened to stumble across it in youtube. Not very good at editing video though and just used a free flv to wmv converter from the internet.

The original trailer has a very well designed, original concept that works really well, yours doesn't have any of it...it's just some pointless random collection of video clips, sorry.

The first 1:40 with the Panzer Corps logo faded in at the end would make an incredible intro video.

The original got old real quick. I can appreciate it, but we're not having a graduation ceremony.

I liked the original intro, but any intro gets old pretty soon and is just a delay then ...so I renamed the folder - no intro.

Does anyone know what movie this music is from? It's a Hans Zimmer composition.

Hi, HBalck. Your WW3 video is here:

Don't forget to rename this file as "intro.wmv" when you place it in the Panzer Corps video folder.

Actually, converting youtube videos to the various video formats isn't as hard as it looks. For those who want to know how to do it themselves, this is the procedure:

1. Google a youtube videos eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3H6c_yS2cs
2. Let the video run till the end (note the time you started the video)
3. Highlight browser window and type in “about:cache” in the address bar
4. Under “Disk Cache Device”, you will see “Cache directory:” and next to it “C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\rzms6pog.default\Cache”
5. Copy only “C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\rzms6pog.default\Cache”
6. Go to your Windows Explorer and paste the url into the “Address Bar” and hit Enter
7. Cache contens will be displayed in the right hand panel. Click on the “Date Modified” to list the contents in a chronological order ie. latest date and timing on top.
8. Under “Name” will be a whole bunch of entries. What we are looking for is usually a few thousand kilobytes and if you had noted down the time you started the video on youtube (eg. 11.18am) this will help narrow down the entries. In this case, after looking at the list, I spot: under “Name” 97719505d01, under “Size” 13,950 KBs, under “Date Modified” 5/5/2012 11.18am.
9. Select the file (in this case, 977119505d01), right-click and select copy. Paste this file into the folder of your choice. Rename this file to whatever name you want but remember to add in an extension “.flv”. For this file, I will rename it “BestIntro.flv”
10. Next, download the free Zune Video Converter from this url “http://www.pazera-software.com/products ... converter/
11. Install Zune Converter on your PC and start the application.
12. In Zune, click on “Add Files” and browse to the location where you stored the file. In “Output format” select “WMV 8 – video & audio”. In “Output directory” you can use the default or customize and tell Zune which folder you want to output it to. Next, click on “Convert” and Zune will convert your .flv file to .wmv
13. Rename the converted file to “intro.wmv”, drop it into the Panzer Corps folder and you are good to go.

Right, jaggy.
You have also Real Player, even the free edition, that besides downloading from youtube, also convert to other formats.

The free edition will work with most of the cases. In case of mp4 videos only the paid can convert. And in case of WebM files, I'm not sure if even the at version can convert them.
There are so many codecs, formats and containers. :x
