Poznan '45
Starting prestige 2500
Ending Prestige 220
Marginal victory turn 18/18
Losses 1x Wehrmacht Infantry, 1x Ostwind
Here we are back at Poznan, where it all began six years ago. I was afraid this would be the final graveyard for my core too, but luckily I managed to eek out another marginal victory, although at a higher cost than I would have wanted.
I deployed my forces into two groups in the south. The initial large clusters of armor right outside the deployment zone kept my advance in check for a time, but once they were dealt with I captured a few objectives, only finding one recon unit. Around turn 13 or 14 the big counter attack hit. For some reason, I thought the attack was going to come from the north but it actually came from the south, which caught me off guard and as a result, an Ostwind unit. During the fighting that transpired over the last few turns I also lost a Wehrmacht Infantry, fortunately my least experienced one but losses of any kind at this point are devastating.
This was a brutal scenario, and lookinga at the battlefield map afterword, it looks like getting a decisive victory would be a monumental feat. Still, I really liked the idea of the objectives and the fighting was tense. Once again, an excellent scenario.

Also, just out of curiosity, since we are back in Poznan, I thought I would see how many units I still have that are from the very beginning, the Poznan '39 scenario, and there were still three. A Wehrmacht Infantry, a Panzer IV, and a field artillery unit. A lot of these units have had pretty storied battle histories but so many have been lost. It was an interesting and sobering experience. I may have to upgrade that Panzer IV in the battle just to make sure that it survives.

General, imported core. Prestige 9877.
This is my favorite scenario so far in DLC 1945. The mission to escort the recon units was nothing compared to the fighting on the east side of the Vistula (I decided not to retreat after recovering the recon units). Wave after wave of Russians. Tons of armor, those dreaded SMG infantry and lots of air power. It was a huge slug fest. I loved it! I wasn't sure if I could stop them, but I killed all but one SMG infantry by turn 17. My casualties were high (none killed though), but worth it! DV on 17/18. I can only imagine what this will be like playing on Manstein. I'll try that when it's released. No issues with game play or balance. A very enjoyable scenario. One thing, the weather and ground conditions were clear and dry for all but two turns when it turned cloudy. I expected snowy ground at least.

Staying on the east bank is not a good idea. That warning is accurate. I am loosing units I have had in my core since 1939. I have found these scenarios to take far longer than previous DLCs in order to get a DV. Brutal and the low prestige makes it a significant challenge--a good one.

Hi,
I am playing the campaign at Sergeant level.
I never saw those recon units.
Were they Soviet recon units we had to capture (like we did in the very first scenario of the 1943 campaign) ?
I saw 4 Soviet recon units but I destroyed them, I did not see any specific specific German name (like "Officers" or anything else).
So 4 turns before the end I destroyed all Soviet units and I got a marginal victory.
Last time I play at Sergeant level, far too easy but I just wanted to discover the scenarios.
