After my first game I have some questions:

1) When a unit infantry not in square is assaulted by cavalry unit which is far than 2MU:
A) put in square after CT
B) stand and fire when unit cavalry is closed after a CT
C) put in square after a CT and fire when Cav is closed.

2) Is possible to change formation after mouvment:
ex:
a) limbered artillery advance than pass to unlibered
b) infantry in tactical formation advance than pass to extended line

3) Is it possible in a mvt to kinked and entended line to get more shot for the next turn.

thanks in advance for your answers

The only way you can kink a line is to follow a hill contour or other defensive position, stream bed or river for example. so I do not think you can just kink away as you see fit if you are out on the flat open ground. If in extended line you can claim flank support if that half of the line is not shooting at its own target.

see page 85 for kinked lines.

2nd column, 5th para. Don't have to follow a piece of terrain to be able to kink an extended line.

I think he was thinking about the restriction on p85 that the kinks may not bend towards each other (creating a crossfire) unless following a terrain feature.

I come back on my first message, about first question. If the answer is C, I still don't understand why we have on the CT table a difference between stand and fire and form a square.
thanks to explain

The reason that the seperate entries are there so that you can see the difference beween forming square when in extended line as opposed to being in Tactical or March, and to make it clear that if you stand and fire it's the same score required whatever formation you are in.
