MAP IDEA?

Hello PZcorps. I have a suggestion for viewing a higlighted unit. Could there be a different color on the unit selected? It's sometimes difficult to know where one is on the overview map.

This can be modded.
I've done it, because I had the same problem

It would be nice if the selected units were centered on the map too.

The map is already centered on selected unit, unless it is already visible on the screen. I experimented a lot with this, and concluded that this was better than jumping the map every time a new unit is selected. Every time the map jumps, you lose the context - what part of the map exactly you see - and you need a couple of seconds to figure this out. So, less jumping is good.

Ok that actually does make sense.

Thanks for posting this (the red one) - really helps in the winter scenarios, and easily changed by renaming the current 'selected.png' file

Never mind, I've managed to do a blue one in Photoshop. Thanks, chris10 and 4kEY.

Thanks! A teach-a-man-to-fish question: How does one go about creating these things in different colors?

@robman - I don't know about chris10 and 4kEY but I'm using Photoshop. Open the "selected.png" and use the "Magic Wand Tool" to click on a corner to highlight and and select a corner. Next use the "Paint Bucket Tool" and select the colour that you want and just click on the already highlighted corner to change the colour. Repeat with the other 3 corners and save the file again after you are done. If you want the selected.png in a particular colour, I can change it and post it up for you.
