New rules at Britcon ?

Hi,

I read the suggestions to change table size and/or army points at the next Britcon in order to have a more 'balanced' game.
Is it that simple, considering all the time/effort so far in creating V2 version of the FOG rules ?

IMO, the best way to get FOG 'fixed' is for Slitherine to release V2 (timely) before Britcon; any chance that happening ?

If not, than maybe the Britcon organisers should issue themselves 'house rules', based upon the intensive tested and discussed latest Beta version. This way the many months of collective effort is not lost (and maybe FOG saved);

Any way I hope V2 will be released in one form or the other asap,

cheers,
Martin

I wouldn't be in favour of any major changes to the rules used at Britcon this year. For the simple reason the organisors have left it far too late and we wouldn't have time to practice with the new rules prior to choosing army lists.

My guess is that there will be a big marketing fanfare at Britcon this year to sell copies of the V2 rules, but that V1 will still be used this year. Britcon 2012 is too good a marketing opportunity for Slitherine to miss having boxes of the rules their for sale to its primary customers.

House rules based on copyright material. I really don't think so. Release V2 just before Britcon. Won't happen.

In fact, though I hoped I would not have to say this, BHGS have had more than enough time to sort out what they are doing for Britcon and have done F(expletive deleted)k all.

I despair

From what I have seen a lot of the changes for V2 involve making HF more competitive, and removing the chance for troops to 'turn tail'. Smaller tables do that without a massive change to the rules. And smaller tables are not a change to the current rules anyway.

But the BHGS need to make a decision. So....................I despair

Think we'll get any announcement before July 1st deadline for discount entry for Britcon? No, I don't think so either.

Given this is supposedly a world championship its very disappointing that no-one from BHGS is prepared to respond to us. I'm with Phil - the only reason I'm still going to Britcon is because my son is going. And as its the first competition he can go to after his exams I don't want to disappoint him. But if this is the state of the BHGS going forward I can't see myself attending again.

Its a great shame for a great event and a once fantastic and responsive organisation.

Someone on BHGS, please, please PLEASE give us some feedback. I know you read this.

Alan, stop your wingeing immediately! You've already decided to go so why persist in all this negative talk? Better to be encouraging others to join you so we can all have fun! In fact I'll let you buy me a beer at Britcon, seeing as how I've spent all my money already on airfares from New Zealand. In return I'm happy to nominate you for the BHGS committee at the next AGM. Deal or no deal?

Zoltan, I have already spent time on the committee. I have complained at lack of communication, not effort or hard work. I welcome the recent announcement.

Happy to buy you a beer. If i have money left after this holiday in Canada. Off to War of 1812 re-enactment tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to that beer, especially since you saved money on the free junior registration!

That would be a Shepherd's enquiry. Or a Welsh enquiry. Your choice.
