Hi,

How many dice when firing at medium range at a non skirmish target

with a 4 base artillery unit (large unit + artillery attachment) :

10 (8+2) or 9 (8+1) ?

and how many with the same unit against a skirmish target : 9 or 8 ?

thx,

Martin

The notes in the table on the top right of page 49 makes this pretty clear.

Big artillery unit at medium range =8 dice
Artillery attachment +1
So 9 dice altogether.

The "+2" dice for an artillry attachment only applies if it is attached to a unit of untrformed Onfantry with no skirmishers, or attached to cavalry (2nd bullet point on table on pg 49).

Doesn't matter what type of unit the target is, you get the same number of dice (unless you are shooting at a building). Skirmishers are just harder to hit.

Cheers
Brett

OK thx,

but at the same page it states "artillery attachments cannot add dice at medium range to the fire of a unit entirely in Skirmish formation'. So in this case shouldn't it be 8 in stead of 9 dice then ?

and just to make sure, I presume a small unit of artillery with an extra artllery attachment fires simply as a large artillery unit, correct ?

Cheers,
Martin

I think this is talking about an artillery attachment to one of your own light infantry units that is in skirmish.
You cannot then get any extra dice for the attached artillery as there are too many friendly skirmishers in the way - risk of friendly fire casaulties too great.
