Wondering how in general you might rank Davout's Corps that fought at Auerstadt and in the 1809 campaign.

By reptuation this is considered among the best of the french.

So do you rank them all as Veteran? My thought is probably.
I don't really think you rank any as veteran and superior. But could rate them as superior instead.

Now people talk about the whole corps having skirmish capablity. I.E. ranked at light infantry in game terms.
This is partially the only gaming idea of older rule sets. I noted Bowden claims they should have skirmishing abilty because of their performance at Thann in 1809. That seems like an awful lot for one battle.

So how might you rank them?

Rating units is always difficult .

It is truth that the IIIrd corps was considered one of the finest in Napoleon's army . Also most of those soldiers where indeed veterans of many campaigns, as was many french units . But what should not be forgotten is also the fact that the 3 divisions commanders where outstanding :

Morand
Gudin ( killed at Smolensk 1812 )
Friant

Friant and Morand will end commanding part of the Guard at Waterloo .

Hope it helps

I think the way to do this having thought is the entire Corps is Veteran. Don't know about the artillery.
For the line infantry each unit will have a skirmish attachment to reflect the skirmishing power.

Wow that will force its opponents to bring up mounted or get shot to p**s at medium range.
