Portuguese Army?

I am looking at various sources for the Anglo-Portuguese army 1810-11 and what I find is that the Brits had a Light Division, a Division that was all British and included a Guards Brigade, and several other Divisions and that in these Divisions, there was a fixed ratio of Portuguese to Brits 1:2 So a typical Division would have 2-3 Portuguese Line/Light Battalions and 5-6 British. The Division would have 1-2 Batteries of Artillery that could be either Portuguese or British as they were considered on a par with each other. 2 Light Battalions were assigned to the Light Division, and the Portuguese had a Cavalry Brigade consisting of two Dragoon Regiments which served in the capacity of Lt Cavalry.

However, the list provided so far has no required Portuguese at all! I can add them as an option, but this seems very unhistorical. The errata could add something like all British Divisions are required to have one Portuguese Regiment for each two British/KGL Regiments unless any of the British Regiments are Guard. In addition, I would allow an optional Portuguese Dragoon unit Light Cav Average Drilled 4-6 elements. Also I would suggest that If more than the one British Foot Battery is fielded, that the next Foot Battery is Portuguese. If just the required Foot Battery is fielded, but Arty Attachments are in your list they should be Portuguese is odd numbered, British if even (excepting any attachments to Cavalry units). So if you have one British Foot Battery and one attachment, paint up some Portuguese, two attachments, paint one British and one Portuguese. In this way your Anglo-Portuguese army will look somewhat historical.

The portuguese brigade was usually 2 regiments each or 2 battalions plus one battalion of cacadore. An english brigade was usually just 3 battalions. Divisions tended to 3 brigades. Sometimes 2 Portuguese, sometimes 1.

There are Portuguese core troops with minima in the 1810-11 and 1812-14 Anglo Portuguese lists in the second lists book and there is a somewhat "hypothetical " Portuguese National army list should anyone one want to field a 100% Portuguese Corps but that has the militia and reserve types too in it .
