Happy happy happy.

Considering I appear to have rendered myself somewhat chair bound for a few days due to putting too much wear on my feet, this evening's purchase is nicely timed.

Time to goof off on the computer and lay off the feet.

Oh joy, back into action!

Like thanks very much, just finished my new play all the way through the '39 to '43 DLCs and I think you'll find that at the end of the '43 DLC I was promised a period of refitting and relaxation. One day, one whole day? Sheesh, pesky Russians, never give you a chance for a good ol' bit of R&R.

As Thulsa Doom said in Conan...Now they will know why they are afraid of the dark. Behold the IS-2!

I played the first Korsun scenario last night on Lieutenant, felt proper panicky all the way through with a rapidly decreasingly sized circle. Was going to start the escape scenario but realised I was a gibbering wreck after the pocket, so went and hid under the bed instead!

Is there a update 1.6 due out for panzer corps? I noticed something about it in the beta section of the forum.

Pah, Thulsa Doom as Kull's mortal enemy, not Conan's. [though I still liked the 1982 movie anyway, despite this mix-mash]

1944, bought, installed and ready to burn a hole in my brain!

Forgot to say, it is interesting having lower numbers of core units, you have some tough choices to make. I've done my initial set up for the escape scenario and have gone for only fighter cover and fighter bombers (5 FWs and 5 ME410s), have ignored the warnings about using infantry and have massed all my artillery behind the tigers and panthers to see if I can blast a hole through....I may end up replaying this one!

I also noticed on the first scenario that the AI doesnt mind having a pop at my Tigers now. Had an 11 strength SE Tiger in the first scenario that said goodbye to this place after four successive attacks. It is getting tough out there!

EDIT: The lost Tiger was on clear ground as well.

I noticed in beta testing that the AI also will go after the the ME 410's in DLC 44 from time to time. If anyone is still using Stukas in DLC 44...well, good luck!

I couldn't even put my Stukas on the map in the first scenario...

I had a hell of a time deciding how to deploy...then spent most of Korsun moving backwards trying to be encircled large-scale to prevent small-scale breakthroughs. Watching the river-swamp freeze over as soon as the game began didn't help...when will I learn that when it is January, it will be cold?

Bonners, are you sure it wasn't a frozen swamp? Those are sometimes tough to spot.

I am the Lion of Korsun! Same deal, lots of Artillery - Armor -and Elephants, Infantry is worthless at this point - I also brought along all my FW 190s and Me 410s and 3 Stuka Gs. They were very helpfull with the ISU 122! I don't think I'm going to fair very well in Romania though - I'm starting to know how Manstien felt.

Hadnt thought of that, a possibility. Thinking of replaying '44 on a more historical setting, if I do then I'll be going back to the easiest setting to work out my settings first and also to resign myself to the fact that infantry are just replaceable cannon fodder. Really interesting scenarios and very different tactics compared to the early scenarios, really got to think about the set ups and where the lines can be drawn. Played up to Minsk (havent started yet, I just cried when I saw all the city hexes!) and I've found I've been giving up a lot of ground in the early parts of the scenarios to try and cobble together a tight line.

I do feel like a bit of a cheat though, despite my best intentions I have upgraded all my armour to Tigers and Panthers and the Tiger IIs are creeping in. As above, I may replay it on a more historical basis, but at the moment I'm convincing myself that I'm an elite panzer group firefighting the worst part of the lines, which is my very flimsy justification for having the best of everything!

You guys who are playing on the higher difficulty levels have my every respect, not for me just yet, I think I'd have nightmares!
