I do not have my copy with me, but a friend argued that it was not clear if more than one unit could launch an assault on one target . I seem to remember it is possible but could someone confirm it .

There's nothing in the section on "Troops Allowed to Assault" (pp.27-9) to suggest that a unit can't assault a unit that is being assaulted by another unit.
Futhermore, the examples of spltting dice between multiple opponents (pp.58-59) and the requirement for a CMT if infantry and cavalry are assaulting the same unit (p.28) would all suggest that it is possible.
Hope this helps,

I believe multiple units can assault. The question I have is on defensive fire. The defending unit gets full dice against each unit charging or are they split? If full fire does a unit in extended line get to shoot full dice at each unit? Or only normal tactical dice?

Would it not be as per p. 52? I don't see why a unit would get full dice at each target. Once minimums are met, you would choose the target to hit with the extra dice.

I agree that for a unit in tactical the shooting dice are split between the 2 targets as per p.52.
If the unit is in extented line then each half shoots a seperate unit at short range with full tactical dice and its own target priorities. This might mean that both shoot at different assaulting units or one half might end up shooting at two units (spitting its dice) if both assaulting units are at least partially in front of that half (with the other half adding its full dice against one of the assaulting units if that assaulting unit is at least partially in front of it).

I think you have it mixed up with assaulting building defenders where the defender gets 4 dice per assaulting enemy.
If assaulting in the open you have to apply minimum dice and can choose which target gets any extra dice.
To dual assault a unit from the front you would have to have each unit hit one half of the target bases if a small unit, a small unit assaulting a large unit 3 wide would still leave 2 bases exposed that could be assaulted by another enemy.
