Modeling ambush markers

Hello,

I'm building up a Later Seleucid army and have turned my thoughts to the creation of Ambush markers. I'd like to make them mini-dioramas with 2-3 figures hiding behind rocks, bushes, et cetera. Does anyone know of any 15mm figures that might be appropriate for this?

Criteria include:

- dressed in a generically ancient way
- crouching, bending, skulking, or other "hiding" poses
- alternately, a pose of someone looking out into the distance or otherwise looking suspicious.

I just used spare figures at 15mm. All you have to do is throw on there a lot of tall grass trees and rocks and they will look like people in hiding.

Add a cow etc.

Essex has civilians. So does Donnington.

You can pick miniatures from here and there, but I fear that generic miniatures will be hard to find. I suggest you:
Corvus Belli command group has one miniature sitting, which can be used as Galatians

CB archers have one kneeling

The dead ones can also be used if covered properly

In the Spanish range you have those two packs, one of command and the slingers, looking and also kneeling that can be used

From essex you have these (MPA 132)

MPA 138

From Warmodelling you have kneeling triarii, which can be used as imitation legionaries. The shileds and spear come detached, which allow you some customization. You can also cut out the leathers of the helmets

Excellent! This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. Thanks, Strategos! Those kneeling triarii are perfect - I agree, they look like they could be easily modified to be imitation Legionaires.

I think I might actually have some of those Essex models, they came with the Seleucid starter pack and are far down in my Build Queue.

Thanks!

You are welcomed. Actually your idea of ambush markers is quite good and I will copy it for my army.
So, thanks for the idea! :D
