I do not know whether implementing this would be hard or not but I'd be more than grateful if the "Forum" sections with the latest posts on the main page showed only threads accessible by the currently logged user (or alternatively only accessible by everyone) It's a bit annoying when you see 20 new topics there, then click on each one only to find you do not have the permission to view any of them.

Yes its somethign we are planning to fix. It's just going to take a while to filter through the sytem as we upgrade.
