Historical or Near Historical match ups?

Looking for historical based match ups; meaning either historical games, or the the two opponents pick a period and place and represent their side. Avoiding the strange match ups like the irish vs the byzantines or the Nubian christians vs the Lombardys or the english against the Arabs or the Rus vs the Berbers. just use me know via here or email.
