Fake Flank Marach?

Let's say I have two BG's and a commander in ambush and thus not deployed on the battlefield. These units could conceivably be engaged in a flank march. Am I allowed to roll for arrival in order to keep my opponent guessing? Can such roll be made in secret so I don't have to reveal the fact I have no flank march if I roll for successful arrival?
The rule on page 144 seems to prohibit these shenanigans but does not come right out and say so.
Thanks
Terry G.

You are not allowed that fake.

You could fake it but not roll. Finish your movement and say "oops I forgot to roll for my flank march. Never mind I'll do it next turn." If your opponent asks you to roll you'll have to tell the truth eventually as you can't roll, that would be cheating.

Phil I think you still have a restraining order in effect on commenting on ANY flank march situations.

Or you could put an impassable river down and say its not worth rolling for as they can't get on table.
But you may still have to roll to see if it straggles

The rules clearly say that you roll dice for a flank march. Ipso facto if there is no flank march you can not roll flank march dice.
