I noted that quite a few have managed to get in some games and wondered what sorts of points games people are playing to get their heads around the rules?
I noted that one brave bunch went with the historical list presented in the rules!
What does a say 400point game feel like as opposed to doing say a traditional 800point game?

The game we played was the fast play rules, armies with a few different troops types to get you used to the game. I must say i enjoyed it even if we did'nt get all the rules right but the only way to learn as they say....

I think 400-ish points is plenty to start seeing mechanics.
We had 5 people jump into our first game at 800. It allowed us to get a variety of interactions. But lots of rule looking up.
I think after each player has done 1 small size you can jump up pretty easily to 800.
The part that I am "feeling" is the game is very smooth once you grok the mechanics. Now I am long way of understanding the subtle points. But I can see the shadows of a neat game becoming clearer.

I second the appeal for more feedback from those who've played a game or two.
I'm planning on setting up the Introductory Scenario from the Quick Play Rules tomorrow. Will check through the postings here first before I start playing it though as I'm sure I read there's a few typos?

We started at 800pts and have upped it to 1000pts for tonight's fight.

Played what turned out to be a 700pt or so game without terrain (Russian Steppes!) With Hazelbark on Sunday so we could test the rules & see the interactions. Liked them and feel reasonably confident of playing a quicker game next time as we know how many dice for each event are needed etc.
I would think 800 would be an enjoyable 3 hr or so game, although I would prefer 900 or even 1000 for any tournament play.
