Hi There

Now had this in a game today, two infantry units shooting at each other inside 2mu one scored 4 hits the other 3 hits.

Not sure if we got this right the one with 4 hits recieved retired and lost 2 cohesion levels the one who recieved 3 hits lost 1 cohesion level and could not advance is that right?

Unlearn the other FOG rules.

Shooting is not simultaneous.
Active player shoots and resolves. Inactive player then shoots with what's left.
So if I (active) shoot at you and do 4 hits at close range. You drop two levels and retire. Then you shoot with what is left of your unit at the new range.

Confusing works well in pratice. As the sequence is different.

Note to self must unlearn FOG AM and FOG R. Found this thing about the shooting after the game and was reading the rules last night after posting this. Will make the whole system work well I think makes assulting a bit harder.

Hi,

It does make assaulting harder if you go racing in to unscathed units. But that just serves you right.
You need to butter up the enemy a bit with skirmish and artillery fire, then assault when they are less likely to cause you to halt by firing.
This works well in the game and gives a good historical feel.
