Where is this defined?

I see some Ottoman cavalry with this code under training. I see things only they can do on page 29.

Who is and what is it in these rules?

Oh and I can see it for the British cavalry.

Anything else?

Impetuous only affects cavarly, and only as defined in the army lists. As you can see - it mostly affects British cavalry and Ottoman cavalry. They behave almost the same as they do in FOGA - except that they lose their 'impetuousness' after their first contact. (or are likely to!)
Specific rules covering most of their actions are:
"Pg 28:
 An Impetuous unit which is Unspent and either Steady or Disordered MUST take a CMT if they could contact an enemy unit but do NOT wish to assault it,
 Assaults cannot be declared (or not declared by Impetuous units) if Command Points are required but the unit’s Division Commander does not have enough remaining."
"Pg 69
Spent Cavalry are no longer impetuous (if relevant)."

My ottoman army is looking more and more painful, it must be bad as Paddy is desperate to play against it with his Russians. So just to confirm my ottoman siphais as skirmishers becasue they are irregular light cavalry have to charge anything in range as they are impetuos, I get the feeling that is going to hurt (me at least)

cheers

I think we may be in the area of our first clarification here. I'll check with Mike, but I think the intent is that they will only charge impetuously at a 'legal' target - which in general means one they can normally contact without spending a command point (since you don't have to, or may not be able to expend the command point).
The rule that states:
"Declaring an assault with mounted Skirmishers against the front of an enemy unit, unless all targets are skirmishers or are wavering or broken." should be the decider, so that irregular light cavalry are only impetuous against other skirmishers, or against troops that are already wavering or broken. The Ottoman army (and possibly the Serbs) is the only one with impetuous skirmishers.

BIG SIGH OF RELIEF

That would help as i have to have at least 12 of them (in units of 6 and a minimum of eight), probably why I have only played with the french so far

enjoying them

plus, of course, some British LC in extended line.

If impetuous charges are limited to 'legal' targets, that should cover it.

Cheers
