Has anyone got a decisive on Arras on FM setting?

I actually asked this question yesterday under the username of Frozenthunder but my username and posts are magically gone today :( I made a complaint in the Site Feedback forum. I used my same email to signup again under this username so something is really funky with the board.

It was a rather lengthy post so I'll just ask a quick version of it under a different username :)

On Field Marshall setting has anyone got a decisive victory? If so what was your corps makeup and strategy? It sucks my post is gone from yesterday since it was pretty long :(

Just FYI, looks like Slitherine was hacked last night. Check out this thread: viewtopic.php?f=58&t=32608

As I don't play on FM level, I'll let someone else take your game question.

Yes I have gotten a DV on Field Marshall. I can send you a detailed list of my CORE tonight when I get home.

But off the top of my head my CORE that I deployed would have contained 6 towed artillery pieces (probably 155s) and 4 Stukas. Not sure what else I took but by this time I also had 2 SE Gebirgs and an SE PZ III (e I think).

I remember getting a DV on last turn on FM level. I created three groups backed by artillery: north, center and south. I held in north and center while in south I have advanced slowly right from the start with artillery following close as the terrain forms some bottlenecks and it is easy to cover all units with artillery.

Thanks for the info and advice, guys. I only have one stuka and 4 arty and way too many infantry :) I'm going to disband about 3 infantry and pickup 2 stukas and an arty or two.

Also down south I waited far too long to make a move on Arras. Going to give it one more try for DV.

I played it on FM. It is one of the only maps I did not get a decisive on. I was pretty beat up after winning the marginal and after doing some recon I felt like there was a good chance I would lose some units.

I only ever have 6 infantry (including the 2 SE infantry). Pretty much infantry are almost just there for taking out units in rough terrain.

Yikes, I see another long post of mine was lost. God I sure picked a bad point in time to join the forums :( It was hacked the first day I made a few lengthy posts and so they rolled back to the previous day so those were lost.

Anyway, I made a somewhat lengthy post yesterday about finally getting a DV on Arras which I don't have the energy to repeat :) I will repeat my admiration for the scenario designer because that was one badass, hair pulling, non stop onslaught of troops and tanks that will have you screaming at your monitor :) Almost done with DLC'40 now.

Some of us read your posts, Arcticthunder, so they weren't completely in vain! :) What I will be doing until the server issues are dusted for a week or so is enter long posts in a Word doc and copy them into the forum. That way, if they're lost, I can put them back easily enough. I've done that a few times especially when I use a lot of formatting codes. Anyway, thanks for your posts.
