I feel as though I should start a thread saying that Amazon.com has sent me a message saying that everything is delayed. :D But of course that has not happened. Still, it would be historically accurate.

I would like to know the army lists in each of the books. It is odd that on Amazon you can find the names of the two army list books but on the Slitherine site they do not show up under a text search.

When will the Slitherine site have the two army books listed?

Here is what Amazon had to say about one of the books:

Triumph of Nations:

In 1812, after a period of considerable victories, Napoleon found himself fighting on two fronts, suffering setback after setback. With his forces in Spain being pushed back, Napoleon launched an invasion of his former ally, Russia, leading the half-million-strong Grande Armée to Moscow and a brutal defeat at the hands of Russian forces and the bitter winter. On the defensive, Napoleon was defeated and exiled, but returned to lead his loyal armies against a coalition of European nations in a final campaign that culminated at Waterloo. Triumph of Nations, a companion for Field of Glory Napoleonic, provides players with all the army lists and details they need to recreate the battles of the later Empire, from the disastrous invasion of Russia to the glorious Hundred Days.

The other book - Empires and Eagles - must cover everything before that. But does it cover the Revolutionary War period? The name of the book would indicate otherwise. No Napoleonic set of rules is complete without covering Bonaparte's early period.

To paraphrase Hamlet "words and pictures"

Actually there is a thread somewhere that specifies .

I'm not a very knowledgeable person for this period rules and not had much chance to read the rules but they look ok and not TOO complicated so far. They look a little more complex than the lasalle set which we play and are well respected around here, but not that much more. At the same time lasalle is a battalion level game and focused on 1805 and later, so I would expect a little more complexity in FOGN. Hopefully not too much though or a game becomes unplayable in an evening.

P.S. will the QRS be available on the web?

Thanks - hope someone posts more info on the Slitherine page itself. THAT is where all of the particulars belong. Not buried in some thread.

I work with a software publisher and he is spartan also on details. Before folks buy something they want to see sample pages. That is lacking too. How about a "Amazon-like" set of pics on a few pages from the book. After all those books are fine quality and deserve some "eye candy" treatment.

I guess I am preaching to the choir here as most of you would probably agree. Product advertisement needs to improve just a tad ...

The other two books will contain around 150 army lists between them ( I have lost count as we complete the second book!) . "Triumph of the Nations" covers from 1809-1815 in the main theatres of Continental Europe and "Emperors and Eagles" covers 1792-1802, 1804-1808 and the War in Spain and Portugal 1807-1814. Small self contained wars and campaigns are covered in both such as the Russo-Swedish War the Wars of the Ottoman Turks against the Russians and in the Balkans, the Vendee and the Tyrolean revolt. But we have confined them to Europe/Russia and the Mediterranean basin (inlcuding Egypt) but not covered the Americas and India.

Because of the publishing timetable and timelag it was decided to put a sample of lists covered by the first list book into the main rulebook to enable people to get to know the rules and the style of the lists. We have not used " starter armies" as In FOG(A).

Is that enough for you at this point?
