Hi gents

I have posted a request to include slingers in another forum:
http://www.slitherine.com/eslitherine/f ... .php?t=322

Also I miss the Myceanean (spell?) chariots for GoT. In P. Connolly book "Warfare in Roman World" it's said that (rich) Myceaneans went to battle riding chariots, and sometimes dismounted to fight on foot. Looks like this new Osprey book confirms this (http://www.ospreypublishing.com/title_d ... 979~per=40).

Chariots alreadly are in CoW. Will be someday a patch/Mod/hint about including them for Sparta/GoT?

Gracias
Miki

We thought about chariots but decided against them. In the sudo 3D system we were using it would have either used vast amounts of memory for animations & rotations, or it would have looked very jerky.

Chariots are a real pain as they are longer than they are wide, so present significant issues when turning. We'll think about it for the future but no promises & undfortunately definitely no patch for Spartan of Troy from us that includes this!

Chariots as far as I know were hardly used after the 9th centure bc in Greece. Even then it was not in use in the huge numbers of say the middle east (including Egypt). More like a few for some generals etc. It wasn't just the cost of one but also the terrain in Greece. If you have ever been there you would see that most of the country is either hills, mountains or islands. I guess this is one the several reasons why apart with some exceptions, cavalry was not used very much either.

Thanks for the response Iain,

I understand your reasons. Also, as I reread my books on the subject, they seem to confirm that Miceaneans used to dismount from the chariots to fight on foot, so no big harm to history by not including them. They were used as a mean of transport, like battle taxis...

BTW, I would love to be able to play with chariots in the future. What about a CoW2 using the new Arena engine?

Also, if you ever make a game covering Alexander campaigns, scythed chariots would be nice...

And, in Legion Arena or Legion II, will be see celtic (briton) chariots?
