Suppression

Hi there,

New player and I have a few questions regarding how suppression works and how I can tell whether it is working.

When directing fire to a square with a question mark, how can I tell how whether I've fired at it enough to have suppressed a unit that might be hiding in there?

Are some units more effective at suppressing than others, and does terrain, the strength of your unit (and the one potentially hiding there) or other factors have an impact.

When firing at an enemy unit that I can see, how do I know when it is suppressed? I know a message pops up once it is suppressed, but once that disappears how can I tell? I would have thought mousing over a unit might tell me but I don't see anything. During the enemy phase, the white flag briefly appears over a suppressed enemy unit but come my turn that flag has dissappeared back to the regular nationality flag so how can I tell if I need to suppress again or if it is safe to move my units?

I'd be grateful for any help.

Thanks,
Mark

Listen for any shouts comming from the bushes :) Units will yell out when being supressed.

The "soft attack" stat of your unit shows how effective it is at supressing soft units (the first stat). I cannot remember if a unit with a high hard attack will supress armored targets more, but as far as I remember an armoured unit will loose 25 morale directly when fired upon by units that have 100% chance of penetrating their armor. And terrain matters, try to mouse over the landscape to see the stats for each tile.

Units with less than 50 morale is supressed, but be careful they may make a freak attack and tanks certanly do so at close range.
Units with less than 0 morale will surrender to any adjecent unit if attacked.

Hope it helped a bit.

Thanks very much for the reply. I had thought shouts from the buildings or bushes just meant that you now knew they were there, but it definitely means that they are under suppression too?

Hadn't thought to check the morale for the unit (when I can see them) - thanks for that.
