Detached shot from a GBG

Just want to make sure I understand this correctly. If I have a single GBG of 16 bases, say 8 pike/8 shot ET or one of those odd Huguenot Wars Keils or French Foot with 12 pike & 4 shot in wings, and detach 4 shot I end up with 2 normal sized BGs: one of 12 & one of 4 shot. (For a forlorn hope or artillery/camp guards) The army break point remains the same but I end up with more maneuver BGs? Obviously I could do this with only 1/2 the P&S units in the army.

If you were a GBG of 16 and detached 4
You still are worth 2 AP. So they both deploy at the same point.

Hmmmm...that's interesting. I hadn't thought about that yet. I wasn't aware the ET's could detach shot like that. Thanks.

Robert
It is one of the criticisms that I see banded about re FoGR that the formations are too rigid. There are subtle rules in there.
Now, not sure what your opponent would make if your two ETs were shedding shot like that...

Exactly, someone was pointing out that Tercios were more flexible & would often deploy all 4 shot wings in front of the Pike. Well now you can - its just going to be a bit fragile in a 4 strong shot unit....
Excellent Tercio info on this website:
