So 2 4+2 pike and shot. 1 has an RG.

It was suggested that you can have
8 Shot + the RG
and 4 PIke in the other.

Is this:
1) True?
2) clear?
3) Something for the FAQ?
4) If there are 2 Reg guns one with each BG can one gonto the 8 shot then?

Dan

you would have to have 4 mixed battle groups to command out shot (called Detached Shot) from 2 of them.

1, No! P35 'Regimental gun markers do not count as bases' and P183 'In mixed battle groups of foot bases with a shooting capability and foot without, bases with shooting capability can be detached'.
2, Yes
3, No
4, No

Hi Dan,

The RGs don't detach because they aren't bases. so they'll stay with the pikes. If you have an RG with each if the BGs they will both stay with the pike, but you'll only get the one shot for the BG as you cannot have more than one per BG.

Another reason why detaching bayonetted shot is not enough of an advantage to cost extra points.

OK. I get all the above and see the logic.

So if the RG is with the pike does that give the pike the ability to shoot as if that RG was a musket?

Regardless of that answer the Pike get the extra dice at impact for the RG assuming appropriate circumstances.

I see no reason for any RG attached to a pike block not to fire.

If you had 2 rg attched to a 4 stand pike unit, I assume thatwould that restrict you to fielding the pike in 2x2 and not 4 deep for melee purposes ?

Sorry Scrumpy - only one RG to each BG. If you do have 2 RG's due to detaching shot then still only one would fire. Remember RG's are markers not bases.

Dan

Sorry to rain on your parade but RG have the same range as whatever shoots in the BG they are attached to. Pike have no range so neither does the RG, it is limited to the Impact phase.

That's not rain. That's what I figured, but was just checking to see if I was totally clueless.

So where would the 2nd rg go if 2 units with a rg commanded out shot ? Would you lose it then ?

If you plan to regularly detach shot, only have one RG per 2 BGs.
