Ugh.

Yes, there's lots of dice, but that's ok. What just sucks the life out of me is having to work out how many of my unit are effected by camels and knocking of 1 per 3, am I fragmented? another 1 per 2. Are any LF contributing then they drop 1 per 2 as well. Remove the various penalties from the right places and then having to go along and quite literally do almost every combat as a single element anyway because we have overlapping units and some of the Sp have rear ranks and others don't but it matters which units were being hit by which others and the 2 Kn units are fighting 3 different units and only some have camels behind them.

It's no exaggeration that in our main combat line tonight (14 element frontage actually fighting, overlaps adding to this) we didn't have a single case where 3 elements of frontage could be grouped together and it was rare we had 2. We were using the dice to track how many hits were inflicted and had to start recycling dice and working out some of the CT results so we could free up dice for later combats.

I was initially concerned by the POA system but that's proved largely a non-issue with some nice distinguishing POA's in there, what I wasn't expecting was the headache that is working out the numbers of dice. The whole losing 1 per N dice sounds fine but plays awful in my limited experience, not just no fun but actively detracting from the experience.
