A.I. gameplay

Hi. I would like to share with you my opinion about the way computer plays the game. Generaly A.I. doesn't make big mistakes but... there's always something to change. There are two things in a.i. gameplay i would like to see better and both is about artillery. First thing is that a.i. uses it while attacking as the last unit. For best effect it should be the first one just as any player does. Second thing is that a.i. very often moves artillery units forward to block the way - maybe that is sometimes useful but not when there are some other, especially infantry, units around. All that makes it easier for us to win but surely nobody expects that kind of support from a.i. side. Is it possible to change the way computer side plays the game? I don't know but for me this kind of changes would make the play harder but better and more realistic. Maybe some new updates could change some of those? What are your thoughts about it? Do you have similar experiences about a.i. gameplay?

You're absolutely right and these have been commented on a number of times. There are ways to script the AI units to act more intelligently as you may see in the DLCs but a thorough overhaul of the AI is something for the future.

I'm reading few other topics now and see that it was commented many times as you wrote. Sorry for another one. Mea culpa.
Anyway I'm forward to see some fixes in near future rather than far ;)

the AI stacking on offensive scenarios needs some help. still learning tricks with the werhmact 39 camp (first one). at Bagration, I sat at Vilna for the Soviet offensive and the AI stacks its self against my defense. arty will shoot then move forward in easier targets in trucks. an old PG AI problem. stacking made it real easy to get the locked in unit to surrender also. it has no where to retreat. another old PG AI problem. eventually I will move on to the DLC's but still having fun learning the AI

Yup. AI often attacks acros the river for example with a good tank unit and second later blocks it by infantry leaving no place to retreat. Ofc in next turn making it an easy target to destroy. Also I have noticed that none of the ground units retreats to reinforce (or it happends very rarely), only air flee and reinforce.

The arty shooting last is really a big problem for the ai, I would really have to be more carefull if it uses its arty correctly.
