Does anyone use the towed Nbwl artillery?

I'm just wondering if anyone actually use these towed rocket artillery, not just wurfrahmen? I've tried to use them, but because of their range of 2 and the fact that they are immobile and so vulnerable to counter-battery fire by the AI, they seem very difficult to use. Has anyone had great success with these units?

Can't say I have. Their increased firepower and ammo capacity over the Wurfrahmen doesn't make up for their extremely limited mobility. Even in defensive scenarios, their 2 range is quite limiting.
Might be something to look into for future balance. Along with the Hetzer, and maybe mixing up some infantry values to give them more variety.

My FJ that fight as ground infantry only always get one, they are great. My core always one in it. Sure they sometimes draw alot of fire, but tactically that just means something else isnt getting hit. Not every unit in the game should be able to wiz around on tracks or fire at a range of 3. To many times I see posts that such and scuh a unit isnt useful, so stats need to change, think peeps just need to look at how you use them. As ive said before in the forum, over half my core is always towed or in half tracks, Inf, Art, AA, ATG, and I dont seem to have much trouble having them keep up or move around the map.

I use one that has +1 range :-p It's great for taking out entrenched infantry.

Nebelwerfers are great in defensive sirtuations and moving in a well defended attacking formation. Or in lieu of that, well behind the main line of advance. While not very good against armored units, they were devestating when used on infantry and light units such as trucks, jeeps ect. and counter battery fire/artillery parks.
When the Germans first used their really heavy ones in the early part of the war in the east {The 280mm & 300mm models} the Russians initially thought they were using some type of new hybrid High Explosive/Gas shell on them. The reason being was that all the Russian KIA's would be found intact and having initially looking like they bled out internaly from the blood streams leading from the nose, ears, mouth and even the eyes. As it turns out they died from severe concussive overpressure from the explosive blast of the rocket shell. The Rocket shell were very thin walled and had no shrapnell in them at all. They were jam packed with very fast burning high explosive and 95% of their kills came by concussion. The Daisy Cutter bombs of the Viet Nam era worked on the same principal but on a larger scale.
Ive personally seen the shells for these weapons at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland and while the launchers themselves are very rudimentary, the shells will run a chill down your spine by their sheer size, even after all these years.

Yep. The Nebels are my "go to" units for ART with +1 range heroes.

Same with me when I get a +1 Range or +1 Mvt. Outstanding infantry removers.

If you have a lot of prestige i dont find any reason why buy nbwl artillery. You can use wurfrahmen in offensive and defensive situations. Why to buy immobile when you can get mobile? The difference between the SA isnt that much. I would buy a few if they have a range of 3.

More ammo and soft target.

I use one! It's been awesome thru Stalingrad where fighthing is slower and I like to keep my formations together. It reaked havoc on the Russian infantry. I always back it up with another artillery piece and protect my flanks.

It seems many players use them and are quite satisfied with them, although most players just like to get one for their core. Perhaps I was going a bit overboard thinking of how best to buff them (say base move of 2).
They are good when there's no opposing artillery, but they do suffer a lot from artillery fire.

I like them if I have a +1 range guy in which case it is worth the price to convert. Other than that though I find that range 2 on an artillery piece that is not armored isn't the best thing in the world. Pretty fun to use though.

But is there an advantage of the 21cm rocket launcher compared to the wurfrahmen - sure, the 30cm is a real boost regarding SA killing power but the 21cm?
=> the 21cm has 1 shot more than the wurf and +1 SA but it is quite expensive 323+transport compared to a wurfrahmen 345...

Looks like High Command is ripping me off on my wurfrahmen
Back to topic: I dont buy Nbwl artilery, I dont think they are worth the prestige. Go for SP or normal towed art. Range of 2 coupled with 1 movement makes it useless for me.

I found the 15cm wurfrahmen to be underpowered for the cost. It wasn't horrible when I upgraded a Range +1 artillery to it but I found myself going back to a towed 17cm at the end of the 41 DLC.

The Wurfrahmen is most certainly supposed to cost 510 in the latest patch. I was a big advocate for raising its price, as it was too cheap for MP.

have not gone into the DLC's yet. still getting my fill of werhmact 39 camp and experimenting with the 1.05 patch equipment. playing a house rule that no two ground units may be the same. tanks etc must all be different types. I am using the 7.5 arty in the 39 camp. great little gun with only two range. took some getting used to but quickly got it to 3 stars+ experience going into LC deployment. commisioned at Poland. at Greece upgraded it to the 15 cm Nbwlf 41. went from SA 7 to 15. already had the HT transport. at 15 SA....this thing is now a giant

worked out great at Barbarossa. went back for a new start of the 39 camp and experimenting with the lesser tanks now like the Pz 38(t)A. so using my house rule of no two of a type....the Nbwlf was a good choice. just takes some getting used to the 2 range but the arty is all about suppression anyways in PzC. with the HT transport, I can move fast with my Panzers.
