Kursk Armory North
starting prestige 1990
After cheat to add 4000 prestige 5990
prestige after overstrengthing 32
Ending prestige 690
DV on 16 of 16

It's been a long road here, but I have finally reached Kursk. It is too bad Manstein didn't uphold his end of the deal and reach Kursk from the south, but nonetheless, here we are.

This was an enjoyable battle, it seem to have a diverse series of challenges and it poses an interesting dillemma for how you decide to split up your force. I ended up getting DV on the very last turn by the skin of my teeth. I had nearly written my prospects for a DV and was fully ready to settle for a marginal so the DV was a pleasant surprise.

As always prestige was critically low, it is interesting to note that even after cheating myself 4000 extra prestige, I still had a fairly uncomfortably low amount.

I captured two sexy feld grau KV=85's, a devastating addition to the core to be sure, especially with my inability to upgrade very many of other panzers to Tigers/Panthers, some extra heavy armor is nice to have. I appreciate starting the unit off with a star of experience as well.

I thought that the battle may deserve a couple extra turns, although I think my force dispostion was subpar, I ran a reasonably effective assault and still felt pretty pressed for time. It may be fine as it is, but one or two more extra turns might be ideal.

One other thing, and this may be an unpopular opinion, but I would like it is more of the Soviet infantry was 1941 class. It takes a pretty heroic effort to upgrade all of your infantry to '43 class by this point. It would feel like more of an accomplishment if the Soviets weren't largely already upgraded themselves.

What about the innumerable conscripts? Even with their presence, you still think a lot of other Soviet infantry should be scaled back to their pre-1943 variants?

That is a good point, it was just a general impression I had the last couple battles, then again this is the infantry-heavy path so it does make sense that the Soviets would be sticking their best trained/equipped units up here.
